Kalaktang girl allegedly murdered
ITANAGAR, Apr 07: A 28 year-
Late Tashi Zomba Kharma was allegedly murdered by one SSB washerman Sandeep Medhi. She was the only daughter of Karma Tsering Kharma of village Dengzi, PO & PS Kalaktang.
According to Kalaktang Monpa Welfare Society, the deceased was in a loving relationship with Medhi for the past few years when he was posted at Kalaktang circle. Late Tashi Zomba Kharma left Kalaktang on March 20 last without informing her parents to meet Medhi at Bongaigaon, his new posting place. After some days of her departure from Kalaktang her parents and relatives tried to trace her but in vain. Her cell phone was found switched off, the Society informed. After filing a missing report at the local police station, they came to know from Kalaktang police station that an unidentified dead body had been recovered by the local police in Bongaigaon on March 23 and the body was cremated 72 hours after its finding. The parents and relatives went to North Bongaigaon Police Station on April 5 and identified Late Tashi Zomba Kharma by seeing a photograph.
A case no.247/2015 U/S 302/201 IPC has reportedly been registered at North Bongaigaon police Station in this regard.
The denizens of Kalaktang strongly condemned the alleged murder of Tashi Zomba Kharma. Under the banner of Kalaktang Monpa Welfare Society around 1000 people organized a peaceful rally at Kalaktang today in protest against the alleged murder of the girl. They demanded that prompt action should be taken against the culprit involved in it.
The protest rally was followed by a candle march in which the participants prayed to God for eternal peace of the departed soul.

Awareness campaign on forest and wild life held
ITANAGAR, Apr 07: One day awareness campaign on conservation of wildlife and forest fire was conducted by All Arunachal Pradesh Entrepreneurship Development Association (AAPEDA) and All Sangdupota Circle Youths Association (ASCYA) at government Secondary School Jote recently.

APPDSU threatens to intensify agitation
ITANAGAR, Apr 07: Sticking to its demands for resignation of Education Minister Tapang Taloh to facilitate free and fair investigation into his alleged corruption charge, All Papum Pare District Students' Union (APPDSU) has threatened to intensify agitation by launching a series of democratic movement if its demand was not met.
Taking on Arunachal Pradesh Seva Dal (APCSD) Chief Organizer's yesterday's press statement that APPDSU's demand was unconstitutional and politically motivated, the students union sought a clarification from the Seva Dal chief organizer on the comment he made and its basis.
"If Seva Dal has any proof to support its comment then make it public," APPDSU said.
"The statement issued by the APCSD chief Organizer is nothing but an abrupt attempt to protect their party leader from corruption charge and earn political mileage," said APPDSU.
The Students' Union also demanded the state government to handover 10% commission demand case against the Minister and his associates to SIT for speedy and fair investigation.

ASUT reiterates demand for guest house at Vellore
ITANAGAR, Apr 07: The Arunachal Student's Union of Tamil Nadu (ASUT) has reiterated its demand for construction of Arunachal Guest House at Tamil Nadu. A team of ASUT had already visited Christian Medical College Hospital Vellore, Tamil Nadu and found that the boundary of the allotted plot of land has been constructed by the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Arunachal Pradesh Govt. The plot is situated at Samhadan Nagar which is 3km away from CMC hospital, Vellore.
The union resented that Arunachal guest houses in Dibrugarh and Guwahati have been constructed but till now the Arunachal guest house at Vellore remains as a dream.

NES condemns arrest of BSNL officials
ITANAGAR, Apr 07: Nyishi Elite Society (NES) has vehemently condemned the arrest of two BSNL officials by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Seppa in a billing dispute on March 27.
NES in a release informed that "as per record, the CJM himself was consumer, complainant and judge in the instant case."

AASATA demands SSA salary
ITANAGAR, Apr 07: All Arunachal Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers' Association (CEC) in a letter to the Chief Minister has appealed him to initiate necessary steps for disbursement of January to March SSA Teachers salary before April 15 next.
The AASSATA said that until and unless the members of the association initiate step to get their salary, the file movement for release of SSA teacher's monthly salary remain unattended and such attitude of concerned authority demoralizes the SSA teachers of the state.

At Yomcha: Parliamentary Secretary, Hydro Power Development, Phurpa Tsering attended the Mopin festival celebration at Yomcha on April 5 last.
While responding to a memorandum on the occasion, he assured the restoration of Yomcha (1x30KW) MHS, which was lying defunct for many years. He directed the department officers to submit an estimate in this regard.
Later, he visited Liromoba MHS and directed the Department to generate power within a month. NEW DELHI, Apr 07: The controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) is reported to have been extended to 12 districts of Arunachal Pradesh for one year by the Centre citing a serious law and order situation along the border with Assam.
Earlier Tirap, Changlang and Longding, where Naga insurgents are active and the 20km belt along the state's borders with Assam was under the Act.
This time, the only districts that seems to have escaped the draconian law is Tawang, Upper Subansiri, Kurung Kumey, Kra Dadi, Dibang valley, Upper Siang and Anjaw.
The State government is yet to receive the notification from the centre, according to highly placed sources.

ITANAGAR, Apr 07: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju today flagged
off ace mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa's expedition to climb Mount Everest for record
fourth time where she will make her second double accent attempt during April-
Mother of two, Anshu holds the world record of climbing Mt. Everest twice in a span of 10 days. Presently, she holds the record of being the only Indian woman mountaineer to scale Mount Everest three times.
If this attempt is successful, she will become the first mountaineer in the world to make two double accents of the world's highest and most fearsome mountain peak to climb and will make direct entry in the "Guinness Book of World Record."
Anshu also created another mountaineering record by scaling three Himalayan peaks, namely Lobuche (6119 mt), Polkade (5896 mt) and Island (6189 mt) during May last year.
Before the flagging off ceremony, Rijiju stressed the need for identifying and developing mountain peaks of Arunachal Pradesh as mountaineering destinations and giving them names and identifying routes for expedition. In this regard, he said will soon convene a high level meeting with Survey General of India, Indian Mountaineering Institute and the Army. Referring to some countries in Africa and America where adventure sports like mountaineering has become good source of income, Rijiju advocated for tapping the huge adventure sports potentials to its fullest for prosperity of the state.
Rijiju said that any place in Arunachal Pradesh is a tourist spot. What we need is to develop infrastructure. We have miles to go to make adventure sports a medium of sustenance for the people, he said.
He advocated for opening up all mountain peaks right from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh for activities for economic development.
The union minister also indicated establishment of North East Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports in Arunachal Pradesh.
Wishing Anshu all the best for her expedition, Rijiju said he will be eagerly waiting for the flagging in ceremony after she creates the world record.

Arunachal is a poor, dependent yet extravagant state so there is bound to be financial problems. For quite some time now, the state has been dealing with staggering debt, cuts in welfare schemes, non payment of contractors and government employees on time. Clearly, the state and its people have no idea how to get out of the mess.
The fact that utilisation certificates, the mantra for getting more funds from the centre have not been submitted on time speaks a lot about the financial management by the people at the helms of the affair.
All the schemes that are implemented in the state are centrally funded with little or zero contribution from the state. The people of the state are witness as to how these schemes are being implemented.
The government is yet to table the report of the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) at the floor of the house even though it was submitted to the government on March 9 during the shortened budget session of the Legislative Assembly.
If there is nothing to hide and if at all it is financial constraint as claimed and not mismanagement, the people of the state have the right to know what the report says.
As if whispers on precarious financial position of the state were not enough, the government have landed itself in a very embarrassing position after the former Finance Minister and seasoned politician Kalikho Pul was expelled from the Congress Party. One of the longest serving Finance Ministers, he is someone who knows the inside story. And according to him, all is not well.
With the centre tightening the purse strings, there is nothing much the cash strapped state government can do other than manage with whatever funds comes from the centre and borrowings.
Perhaps, lessons will have to be learnt from the current mess and government have to be more responsible financially. A large chunk of funds is utilised as salaries and perks to the pampered state government employees and members of the legislative assembly every month. Austerity measures shall have to be implemented strictly sooner or later and it has to start with those running the state.

PPA demands CBI inquiry into alleged NDRF scandal

No violation of ceasefire agreement will be tolerated: Rijiju
Itanagar, Apr 07: Sending out a strong message to the insurgent groups active in the North East, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju today said that no violation of ceasefire agreement would be tolerated by the Centre.
"If any group violates ceasefire agreement, action will be taken against them. No group can operate outside the ceasefire operation area," Rijiju said while responding to media questions on suspected NSCN ambush on an army convoy at Tirap district on April 2 last, killing three jawans.
He said, the NSCN factions could not operate in the territory of Arunachal Pradesh which was against the ceasefire agreement.
"The group involved in the Tirap ambush went to Myanmar and the MHA is chalking out strategies to counter such incidents," he said.
"If they continue to violate ceasefire agreement, there will be repercussion from our side too," he said adding, action would be taken against those involved in the Tirap ambush.
Responding to a question on peace talk with the insurgent outfits of the region, Rijiju emphatically said that no talks were possible until the groups gave up violence and surrender.
"They will have to surrender with arms and come to the negotiation table. We will provide suitable rehabilitation package for them and initiate dialogues," he said.
He said there would be no talks any more in the political level for which the government had appointed interlocutors to initiate talks with the groups of the region.
"We have already directed the interlocutors to expedite the talk process for a permanent solution to bring peace into the region," he added.

Bollywood actress and model Tanushree Dutta, Mr. Universe 2009 Mahadev Deka, actress Rajni Basumatary, among others, will walk the ramp of this illustrious fashion extravaganza.
Announcing the Itanagar edition of North East India Fashion Week, noted fashion designer and CEO of ARL, Yana Ngoba said, "The North East India Fashion Week's main objective is to promote and support weavers, designers and craftsman of the region, and to empower women of Northeast by providing them a networking opportunity and by facilitating buyers for their products."
At least 30 designers from Northeast and other designers of national repute are expected to present their creations during the three day event. Ten models from the state and other national and international models will walk the ramp showcasing indigenous designs.
The Itanagar edition of the fashion week will witness a workshop for weavers along with the fashion shows where networking opportunities for weavers with design houses, silk promoters and retailers to market their produce will be facilitated.
"Our tribal attire is rich in terms of weaves, colours and patterns. North East India Fashion Week will be a platform for dreams to take flight. A platform where participating designers can showcase their creativity, innovations, individuality and can seek value for their commercial line in the presence of buyers from both the regional and the national market", said Yana.
North East India Fashion Week's mission is to hold more such industry developing initiatives. The show aims to endorse and encourage designers to grow and showcase their work regionally and nationally.
TT Memorial Badminton championship begins at Ruksin

RUKSIN, Apr 07: The first ever "Double Badminton championship Trophy, 2015," organized by Industrial Growth Centre Youth Association (IGCYA), Ngorlung began at Ruksin General Ground today.
Inaugurating the championship, Director of Secondary Education, Tapang Taloh said games and sports are essential part of life and playing sports is a great way of keeping oneself physically and mentally fit. Suggesting the organisers to keep same zeal and spirit to organize the trophy regularly, Taloh suggested the budding players to play the game with true sportsman spirit and maintain strict discipline to become a good player. He also advised them to make career out of sports as there are job reservation for good sportspersons in various Govt. departments.
The main objective of the tournament is to identify hidden local sports talents and encourage them to play badminton, said Organizing Committee President, Orik Panggeng.
Besides the champion's trophy the event carries cash award of Rs. 25,000 for the winner and Rs.15,000 for the runners up team. Rs 5,000 will be awarded to the fair play team, informed the organisers.
As many as 20 players and teams from different parts of Arunachal and Assam are participating in the tournament.
The championship is sponsored by one Tatong Taki and his family members in memory of their late father Takong Taki, former Head Gaon Burah of Linka village under Ruksin circle.

In the last few days newspapers of state are filled with corruption issues raised by various unions, politicians and political parties. Allegation of corruption to the tune of crores of rupees has deeply damaged the reputation of state. Already Arunachal has acquired the bad reputation for being highly corrupted and these new revelations will further hurt the image of state. While everyone is talking about high level corruption, no one seems to care about the corruption at grass root level.
Today local dailies carried a news item about how office of District Transport Office,
Changlang siphoned off the fine amount collected for violation of motor vehicle rules.
DTO office charged fine of Rs 9000 to a truck owner for violation of rule but only
Rs 1000 was deposited in the treasury office. This is a classic example of how corruption
is deep rooted in Arunachal. There is a need to start the fight against corruption
at grass-

our government has been neglecting this locality in every means starting with the

Now I would like an authentic answer without blame games from the government, whether
border areas are a matter of concern to them? How many more such cases are there?
Who is responsible for it-
Why was PMGSY Road not implemented in this area or if it was why the authenticity of completion of the road was not verified? I may be raising the question lately because I just got to know about it, but is it necessary that implementation of a project in any field needs to be asked or agitated for?

Harming ourselves indiscriminately

Human polity are being practised in such a way that ruling class & privileged exploit and monopolise resources of the nation by depriving the political opponents, weaker sections. Extreme inequalities in the ownership & enjoyment of national resources is one of the biggest reasons for the great turmoil in human societies around the world today and it equally affect the nature in untold ways. But why should it merit practising of such exploitative and divisive practices at the cost of peace, harmony and progress and which affect detrimentally and universally? After all, every individual is a fellow citizen of a nation & member of mankind who aspire for a progressive & peaceful life for one self and his beloved succeeding generations. For powerful & riches there is no guarantee that one may not lay beaten at an air crash, terrorist attack, road accident, cardiac arrest, cancer, diabetes, etc. And when, the eventualities will have happened, all material aggrandisement will surely be forgone to export somewhere out of this world but the disorderliness concretely inherited by the upcoming generations. While poor and weaker sections have been falling prey to epidemics, poverty, hopelessness & suicides, life gifts onetime opportunity to every soul to make tremendous contribution to our society, our world, our green planet and who knows, even to the greater cosmos towards harmonious progress for today and ensuing future. Polity as the tool for conduct of human societies has the greatest potential for self reformation within the system and reformation in the societies. Especially in our country, the forefathers gifted a constitution with all encompassing and all accommodating values and provisions with noble vision for collective empowerment and excelling. State policies, programmes, etc need to be tuned to the very fundamental and noble objectives and vision which forms the very basis for existence of Bharat, India. Equally, all around the world, the states have the greatest responsibility to make contribution towards making this world, the planet more safer & harmonious for persistence of lives of mankind & other entities. What is the achievement and nobility of that power and development which results in the millions & millions of souls falling victim to bullets, starvation, epidemics, etc all around for generations and ages? Also there are human aggravated natural catastrophes that boomerangs and wreck havoc upon the mankind itself. Practices of such power and approaches of such development models earnestly need some deep rethinking and reassessment. The humanity, the whole world should be alarmed and awakened towards reformative actions, if a fellow human dies of bullet, succumbed to hunger & thirst, fallen prey to an epidemic, lay beaten in an unnatural accident, etc because none wish to die but desire for a joyful long life. And because no family, ever want to become a bereaved but live long and happy with their loved ones. The nature, the creation, the creator has blessed us with bountiful of endowments for harmonious living and enjoyment but its us, the human, who is harming ourselves indiscriminately. And it is an onus upon us to collectively reform these detrimental paths towards brighter and better tomorrow for ourselves and the succeeding generations.
